New Limited Edition ADRIATICO x PLANTERAY "Double Swap"

Amaretto ADRIATICO and Maison Ferrand (Planteray Rum) have joined forces in a groundbreaking collaboration to create a new limited edition ADRIATICO x PLANTERAY "Double Swap" that is sure to delight spirits enthusiasts around the world.

After having produced different limited edition expressions such as Heaven Hill Bourbon Cask, Caroni Rum Cask or Bonollo Grappa Cask, the opportunity to work with Alexandre Gabriel’s team from Maison Ferrand was unique. Planteray is such an iconic and qualitative brand, recognized in the industry and acclaimed by best bartenders in the world.

Maison Ferrand also decided to take advantage of our previously used Amaretto Adriatico Casks to age their Barbados Rum to create a very special finish. The Barbados Single Cask Rum from 2017 is a one of a kind experience as it’s the first time that a rum has been matured in an ex Amaretto Cask!

In parallel, for the first time in the Amaretto category world, a Rum has been aged in an ex-Amaretto Cask. Please meet the Planteray Barbados 2017 Single Cask matured for 7 months in ex-ADRIATICO Amaretto Casks. Unique Batch Limited to 1500 bottles. 

 

«It was essential to have a very intense rum to complement the intensity of the amaretto. Amaretto is quite sweet, so we needed a rum that was more tannic and structured to achieve a nicely balanced palate. additionally, the almond and sweet orange notes pair perfectly with the coffee and toasted flavors of the fiji rum, with slightly animalistic notes that further enhance the marriage of these spirits. »

Tasting Note by Alexandre Vingtier (Journalist & Rum Expert)

• Color: Amber
• Nose: Intense and very appetizing with notes of almond and vanilla accompanied by nuances of pistachio, hazelnut, and coconut, complemented by coffee and citrus
• Palate: Round and elegant, very balanced, it follows the theme of the nose with a more chocolatey and praline dimension and nuances of dried banana, ginger, pepper, licorice, nutmeg, and cinnamon
• Finish: Long and fresh, almost mentholated, with flavors of maraschino cherry, clove, oak, and cappuccino
• Empty glass: Almond, vanilla, fruity and floral.
